The Makarska Riviera combines the most beautiful Croatian tourist towns on the Adriatic, such as Brela and Tučepi, which are at the same time destinations where some of the Bluesun Hotels are located.
The crown of the Makarska Riviera is certainly Biokovo. Biokovo is a mountain which was proclaimed a nature park in 1981, and those seeking new experiences and an amazing view of Dalmatia shouldn't miss climbing all the way to its peak Sv. Jure (St. George), which is 1,762 m high.
The centre of the Makarska Riviera is the town of Makarska, which apart from a great collection of world malacology and a beautiful waterfront shaded by palm trees with numerous cafés and restaurants, offers unforgettable fun and nightlife, in outdoor clubs and cafés. Makarska is the centre of many entertainment and sports activities in mid-Dalmatia.
We recommend a visit to the Mafest, the Makarska Comic Book Fair, held every year in May. In May, a host of events take place in Makarska, some of which have been gaining cult status.
Makarska Open Women’s Circuit also takes place every year in May, as does the International Women's Handball Tournament and an international rugby tournament, gathering rugby players from Australia to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Makarska is also well-known for its bicycle tournament held in June.
Makarska is host not to one, but two carnivals every year, a winter carnival in February, and a summer one held in August. Both include a joyous procession and crazy masked nightlife in one of the best clubs of Makarska.
